About Us

The Nonius Engineering Company was established in St-Petersburg in 2008.

The Nonius Engineering Company’s mission is to take hydrotechnical works to an absolutely new level on account of means for automation, monitoring and positioning of vessels, as well as to optimize all operating procedures both afloat and underwater.

The Company’s Mission Statement is “Smart approach to works afloat and underwater”.

The main profile of the Nonius Engineering Company is development of automation and monitoring means for industrial ships, as well as systems used to position mechanisms under extreme conditions, and first of all, underwater.

Our software-hardware systems allow enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of hydro-technical and other works executed offshore, tracking current and past production, monitoring virtually all of working and technical processes both locally and remotely, operating working mechanisms remotely, extremely accurate positioning for vessels and operational mechanisms, including those being in difficult-to-navigate environments.

All information on the ongoing processes is collected by modern sensors such as linear movement transducers, encoders, inclinators, pressure and density sensors, satellite receivers and compasses, laser distance meters etc.

The client-server software structure easily allows adapting software to accommodate any type of dredger. We offer readymade solutions for various types of technical fleet.

WE ARE EAGER TO FIND NEW APPLICATIONS FOR OUR IDEAS AND TO SOLVE PROBLEMS RELATED TO MACHINERY POSITIONING AND AUTOMATION, REMOTE CONTROL AND MONITORING IN DIFFERENT FIELDS SUCH AS HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING, MINING OPERATIONS, CONSTRUCTION ETC.

Our projects will help you solve three major tasks, namely:

1) Cost reduction

  • No unnecessary works done.
  • Reduction of indirect costs of works.
  • Assessment of scopes of work done and to be done.
  • Statistics collection and comparison of progress achieved by different shifts applying dredgers.

2) Visualization

  • The entire gamut of specialized equipment and software helps to see what is going on underwater at the bottom.
  • It helps answering certain questions like “Where should we scoop?”, “How deep should we scoop?”, “How much has been scooped? / How much should be scooped now?”, “Where can scooping be avoided?”
  • Monitoring of the dredger state – temperature in cylinders, oil pressure, motor currents, slurry density and its flow rate, etc.

3) Supervision over accomplishment of works

  • Preparing tasks for the dredger (limits of scooping, project reference marks).
  • Prompt adjustment of the task, data update aboard, in particular, remotely, via Internet, by means of the software pack that contains tools for the Manager, the Dredge Master and the Hydrographer.
  • Assessment of scopes of work done and to be done.
  • Possibility of real-time remote supervision over progress.
  • Reception of current data on the progress of works, in particular, automatically, without intervention of the crew.
  • Detection of errors and reporting them both to the Dredge Master and the Project Manager.
